De Spaanse autoriteit voor gegevensbescherming (DPA) heeft REPSOL COMERCIALIZADORA DE ELECTRICIDAD Y GAS, S.L. een boete van 1.380.000 euro opgelegd. De verantwoordelijke partij had verouderde technische en organisatorische maatregelen gebruikt om klantcontracten te beheren. Dit resulteerde in het feit dat een individu energierekeningen ontving, terwijl die persoon geen contract had met de verantwoordelijke partij. De omvang van de verantwoordelijke partij, een multinational, en de grote hoeveelheid persoonsgegevens die verwerkt werden, werden beschouwd als verzwarende factoren.
