The Italian DPA imposed a fine of EUR 100,000 on Realmaps S.r.l. The controller collects data on every real estate owner and sells it to customers who use it for direct marketing purposes. The controller failed to comply with basic data processing principles. In particular, the processor failed to demonstrate a sufficient legal basis for its data processing, failed to inform data subjects about how their data is processed and how they can exercise their rights, failed to comply with the principle of data minimization, and failed to correctly designate a DPO.
